Why slightly over half of people with postgraduate degrees approve of the job Obama is doing?
I thought this was his base… college professors and minorities. It looks like even the universities are slipping away. The Huffington post tried to paint lipstick on a pig when they released the new poll but the dismal news is hard to cover up:

And then amazing as it may seem, a new Zogby said that Obama could lose the Presidency to Massachusett’s Scott Brown if the election was today. See it here:

Academia has always supported the Liberal SOcialist agenda…And why wouldn’t they, they don’t LIVE in the real world.
They Live in a room full of sponges and they feel like they are ‘contributing’ to society when they loudly proclaim their view of the world and situations when they themselves neither participate nor solve those situations, but instead just expound their Opinions of them.
As for ‘seeing’ his solutions as good ‘down the road’ as one answerer alluded to….Spending the tax dollars of an entire generation yet to be born, then raising taxes to glean the remainder of citizens disposable income doesn’t strike me as a proven method of correcting a struggling economy…I’m sure if I called my bank and told them I was going to use my credit card until I had spent my way out of debt, they would cut off my credit pretty quick…
Buy the Weigh, how many of you out there understand that when the government taxes a business, the business DOESN’T pay those taxes….the CONSUMER pays MORE for the product to COVER those taxes….So when some dimwit tells YOU they are going to TAX those bad old people for charging too much or making a profit….YOU might as well get ready to PAY more for those products…….
For the same reason 95% of all Germans went along with the Nazi’s. They believe the propaganda.

The story says out of 25,000 people surveyed 58 per cent of those with more than one advanced degree approve of what he has done.
The reason is is lower is because he has continued Bush’s policies and hired many of Clinton’s people rather than making gigantic changes which were anticipated.
He has proven to act in a centrist fashion when most people with advanced degrees expected entirely a liberal agenda. Highly educated people appreciate his intellect even if he has to dumb down during speeches to the ignorant illiterate masses.

Maybe it’s the "Ivy Be-Leaguered effect"
I have three post graduate degrees and don’t blame me, I did not vote for him. RIght to life independent here.
I do not find Obama persuasive at all. I think he had good bearing and a nice voice and a nice style though

I think that the core questions is why are a certain segment of the population is approving of the Presidents performance.
Well, I guess that postgraduates are looking more towards the long run, and they feel that President Obama is still the man for the job to make those long range solutions happen.
We as Americans have a major character flaw. We are always looking for the quick fix to our problems. We are more interested in getting is solved “now” and have a band-aid type solution rather and make hard decisions and effecting a solution with any staying power.
Multitasking notwithstanding, I believe that Our President has taken on more problems that he can deal with. One problem is that President Obama came to town with the naive notion that if you were simply enthusiastic enough and that you all agreed that things needed change you could simply get all the people involved (lawmakers, congressmen, senators) on board and get things done.
The harsh lesson for this president is that in “this town” almost everyone has some sort of agenda for their own personal gain. The harsh fact is that for the most part many lawmakers are not necessially interested in solving problems for the long haul, but rather interested in the quick fix that will satisfy their home districts long enough to secure re-election. And that is what they are really after, re-election.
The funny thing is that everyone agrees that change is needed. Healthcare reform, finance reform, banking reform, election money reform, international relations all must be overhauled, changed, re-worked so that they can benefit this country for the future, but no one, and I mean no one, is willing to say “F*** my job security, my standing in Washington, my political future and I will do for the public that they hired me for, effective representation in order to make American lives better. “
But finding individuals that are willing to make that kind of commitment is next to impossible.
President Obama stated that he would prefer be a good one term president rather than a mediocre two term president. No one in Washington is willing to make that kind of statement. Remember, the vast majority of the representatives are career politicians and are not looking for a real job. I, along with others, feel that our President has the best of intentions but he is probably getting greatly frustrated by the lack of progress and the lack of cooperation with everyone involved including his own party, and he also feels that he only has very little time to get all of his agenda completed. Admitially he has hit many road blocks that he did not anticipate, especially from members of his majority party. What he can do during the time he has left (get this, this guy is only in his first year and already we are thinking about his legacy) is quickly getting limited. I just hope that the work that he starts will follow through to future administrations.
